Cuban Omara Durand won the world champion title in the 400 meters category T12 (deep visual disabled) with a world record of 53.05 seconds Friday. Durand got the second world title for Cuba at the World Championship for Disabled People with a record close to the records for conventional athletes.
Now, the Cuban competitor has the world championship title in three distances as a sprinter. In the Pan American Games for Disabled People in Toronto (Canada) this year, she registered 11.65 seconds in 100 meters and 23.67 seconds in the 200 meters.
Durand was followed by Ukrainian Oxana Buturchuk (54.92) and Mozambican Edmilsa Governo (58.68).
