Director Daniel Martín Presents New Superhero Series at ICAIC
Regarding the premiere in Cuba of the superhero series Tito Verse: Genesis, its director Daniel Martín spoke today at the headquarters of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC).
"It is a great pleasure, as a Cuban, to be able to modestly contribute a cinematographic work that is the tip of the iceberg, because it is the first short film of a group of 26," revealed the creator of the project, Daniel Martín, in the Héctor García Mesa Hall.
Production and Inspiration
The 2D project is sponsored by Animados ICAIC and Damasu Producciones and is inspired by the character Tito Reacciona (2018).
Regarding the cast, Martín specified that there was a deployment of 28 Cuban figures from film, radio, television, and theater, alongside the renowned Mexican actress Rosa Bouchot, who has participated in over 80 films for Televisa.
Among the performers are Jorge Perugorría, Mirta Ibarra, Isabel Santos, Luis Alberto García, Osvaldo Doimeadiós, Paula Alí, Mario Limonta, Ulises González, and Blanca Rosa Blanco, along with other prominent stars of the Cuban scene.
Public Reception and Social Media Buzz
"Here are our new superheroes; this has been a risky operation that has faced many questions," commented ICAIC President Alexis Triana about the public reaction to the new proposal.
"Being part of the conversation on social networks has been important; there have been media outlets commenting since Friday, mostly positively and with gratitude," highlighted Daniel Martín during the press conference.
Series Synopsis and Production Details
ICAIC explained that the central character is Tito, a 15-year-old Cuban-Mexican boy who embodies universal, humanist, and Martí-inspired values, facing villains alongside friends of diverse ethnicities and traditions.
The series includes in its first episode time loops, superpowers, and a three-meter-tall Japanese demon, and it benefited from the advisory input of specialists from Mexico, Asia, and Cuba.
"We have spent some years dedicating our resources to working with independent producers, and this was one of those cases," commented the producer of Animados ICAIC, Aramis Acosta.
"We truly had to analyze what Daniel wanted to do; we confronted the world of superheroes, and it shook our foundations," added the renowned Cuban producer.
Future of the Series
Director Daniel Martín revealed that the second episode of the animated series is already in the pre-production phase.
