According to the website of the tournament, Torres and Baez finished third in the A final of the men's C-2 200 meters with time of 37,691 seconds in an event won by Germans Stefan Holtz and Robert Nuck (37,175).

The silver medal went to Hungarians Peter Lantos and Adam Nagy (37,595).

Thus, the duo achieved the most outstanding performance of Cuba, as they also qualified for the A finals in 500 and 1000 meters, where they finished sixth and seventh respectively.

These events were won by Russians Ilya Shtokalov and Mikhail Pavlov (1:40.991) and Hungarians Robert Mike-Henrk Vashanyai (3:45.727), in that order.

The other Cuban who advanced to the final was Juan Carlos Bulnes (C-1 1000 meters), who ended ninth (4:13.409 minutes), very far from the leader, the German Sebastian Brendel (4:02.537).

Bulnes was also second in the 500 meters (1:53.246 minutes), but in the B final.

The other Cuban involved in the contest, Maikel Zulueta (K-1 1000 meters) finished 19th by winning the C final (3:49.221).

The four Cuban canoeists participated in this global event as part of their training for the Central American and Caribbean Games to be held next November in Veracruz, Mexico, where Cuba expects to win the canoe competition.
