Havana, Aug 31 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel today urged the country''s sports movement to study the work of the fencing team for the Central American and Caribbean Games of Barranquilla-2018.

Diaz-Canel recognized the results of that discipline in the Colombian event, held from July 19 to August 3, where the team won seven gold and four bronze medals, and called to analyze that experience well during the Board of Directors of the National Institute for Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER).

The President of the Councils of State and of Ministers also insisted on the preparation of the reserve of athletes and coaches, and the technical preparation of the latter.

In addition, in his exchange with INDER executives, Diaz-Canel asked for suggestions to a possible solution to a missing link that is the absence of the Higher School of Athletic Perfection.

Cuba participated in the Central American and Caribbean Games of Barranquilla with 534 athletes, who competed in 34 disciplines. In that four-year tournament the island obtained the second place by countries behind Mexico.
