The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, demanded this Friday the cessation of interference in the internal affairs of Honduras, and reiterated his country's support for President Xiomara Castro.

“All our support and solidarity to President @XiomaraCastroZ, to her Government and to the Honduran people in the face of the attacks on the sovereignty of Honduras and Our America,” wrote the head of State on the social network X.

On that internet platform, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez also rejected the interference of the United States in the internal affairs of the Central American nation, and warned about the accusations made by Xiomara Castro regarding the existence of a plan against his government.

On Thursday, the Honduran president alerted the population about statements made by the American ambassador in Tegucigalpa, Laura Dogu, in relation to the visit of two high-ranking officials from Honduras to Venezuela.

“Yesterday they attacked the head of the armed forces and the Minister of Defense in our country.  Look how delicate that means.  An attack that we cannot allow because it weakens the institutionality of the armed forces.  Not only that, it puts the upcoming electoral process in a precarious state,” he said.

The president had denounced last Wednesday on the social network X the intention of Washington to direct the politics of Honduras through its embassy and other representatives, actions that she described as "intolerable."

On that occasion, she pointed out that the United States attacks, ignores and violates with impunity the principles and practices of international law that promote respect for the sovereignty and self-determination of peoples, non-intervention and universal peace.

As a result of these events, Honduran authorities reported that the Government terminated the extradition treaty with the United States, signed since 1912.
