Washington, April 21 (RHC)-- New talks are underway in Washington, DC between representatives of Cuba and the United States to discuss bilateral migration issues.

Cuba's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Josefina Vidal, has urged the United States government to comply with the bilateral migration agreements it has signed.  The Cuban diplomat, in statements to international media, ratified "Cuba's commitment to the migration agreements signed with the U,S, to guarantee a regular, safe and orderly migration".

In this regard, the Cuban deputy foreign minister emphasized that the government has "the will to hold regular rounds of talks in this area of common interest".  Sources reveal that Vidal stressed that when these bilateral agreements are breached, there are migratory peaks exacerbated by coercive measures and consular hindrances.

In line with this, the official affirmed that the U.S. migration policy towards Cuba is incoherent and differentiated.

Likewise, she urged the U.S. government to grant in Havana the visa for Cubans who aspire to travel to its territory due to the high costs involved in traveling to a third country.
