Vietnamese President extols relevant virtues of Nguyen Phu Tronh

President To Lam here today extolled the most relevant virtues of the late General Secretary of the Communist Party (VCP), Nguyen Phu Trong, whom he described as a wise and great talent of the Vietnamese revolution.

Phu Trong was an excellent disciple who never ceased to learn and follow the thinking, ethics and style of President Ho Chi Minh, and who devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of our Party, nation and people, he wrote.

In a lengthy article titled ‘General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, an eminent leader who devotes his whole life to the nation and people’, Lam remarked more than 55 years of continuous activity of the Party leader, forged in revolutionary practice, with strategic vision and sharp thinking.

Phu Trong, he added, ‘is truly a typical example of pure revolutionary ethics, diligence and impartiality, with a simple lifestyle, a democratic, dedicated and scientific working style’, who has been respected and loved by cadres, Party members and the people, and highly appreciated by international friends.

The Vietnamese head of state also stressed that, together with the entire members of the VCP Central Committee, he creatively applied and developed Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh’s thought to help build an ever more transparent and solid Party and a socialist rule of law of the people, by the people and for the people.

‘Creatively applying Ho Chi Minh’s thought, Nguyen Phu Trong has thoroughly studied the nature of the Party, its role in the process of national renovation and the construction of the ruling Party from the practice of renovation in Vietnam,’ it added.

Elsewhere, the Vietnamese leader’s article, reported by the VNA news agency, noted that the leader, together with the Central Committee, formulated and led the successful implementation of strategic policies on building and rectifying the Party ranks.

He also persisted in the struggle against individualism, degeneration within the Party, corruption and negativity, while cultivating revolutionary ethics, courage, intellectual ability and pioneering spirit, and promoting good traditions and close relations with the people, it noted.

The text also highlighted Phu Trong’s leadership on the cultural front and pointed out that he ‘devoted great effort to building an advanced culture imbued with national identity, which is truly the spiritual foundation of society, an internal force and an important engine for the country’s development’.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, he stressed, devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation ‘with determination and steely spirit, never backing down in the face of obstacles and difficulties’.

He added that he possessed a great personality considering that ‘honor is the most sacred and noble thing’, defending principles and devoting his whole life to the Fatherland and the people.
