Damascus, Jun 22 (Prensa Latina) The number of extremists of the Islamic State organization (Daesh in Arabic) eliminated by the Syrian army during its operations in the desert rose to 80, as quoted by the Al-Watan diary.

The source added that Russian and Syrian aircraft conducted at least 60 sorties in the last 24 hours against Daesh targets in desert areas in the central provinces of Homs and Hama, as the infantry military continues combing the caves and underground shelters used by radicals.

A convoy of technicals and buses carrying soldiers and arrived in the city of Palmira, in the midst of preparations to launch an offensive aimed at clearing out any terrorist presence from the eastern mountain range of the city.

According to the media, the operation will be carried out with coverage and support from Russian reconnaissance helicopters and drones.

The military found and destroyed warehouses and underground headquarters of the extremists in the desert areas on Monday.

Damascus and Moscow denounced on several occasions that the United States trains and moves extremists to use them in attacks against positions of the Syrian Army and civilian communities in the desert.

According to proven data, the recent attacks in the desert are planned and facilitated by the US forces, who provide weapons and intel to the terrorists from their base in the Syrian region of Tanef in order to destabilize and prolong the war in the country.
