Russia: Ukraine unwilling to honor Minsk agreements

Moscow, Feb 9 (Prensa Latina) The Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, considered that the statements made on Tuesday by the head of state of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, did not show Kiev's willingness to comply with the Minsk agreements.

Peskov pointed out that there was no word about President Zelensky’s willingness to promptly begin doing “what Kiev should have done a long time ago” during the press conference with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron. However, Peskov stressed that in this exchange there were positive manifestations around the understanding that the only solution to the conflict in Ukraine is based on the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

According to the head of the Kremlin press office, Russian President Vladimir Putin has yet spoken by phone with his French counterpart about the results of his visit to Kiev, one of the agreements of his appointment in Moscow.

“There are positive signs, there are also less positive ones, hopefully, the presidents will talk by phone and the picture will clear up,” Peskov said.

Macron conducted an exchanged with Putin for almost six hours in Mosocw last Monday, with an agenda that prioritized the debate on the security guarantees presented by Moscow to the United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

The other key topic of the meeting was the situation around Ukraine and a peaceful solution to the conflict in Donbass.

Macron traveled to Kiev on the next day, to meet Zelensky in order to address similar issues related to security in the country and in Europe.
