Moscow, Jan 17 (Prensa Latina) Scientists from the University of Saint Petersburg have developed a method to produce tissues that protects against hospital infections, as reported by th National Center for Technology (NTI).

According to the researchers, the nano cloaking technology manages to reduce the number of bacteria by 99.9 percent in 24 hours, including infectious strains against which there is currently no protection, according to the Sputnik agency.

The innovation is based on the chemical synthesis of copper and silver bimetallic nano particles in the structure of a fabric, which achieves a synergistic effect between their fungicidal and bactericidal properties, the information specifies.

After modified, the materials have a strong fungicidal and bactericidal effect, said the head of the project, Ekaterina Kudriavtseva.

The specialist explained that covering a medical gown with this technology costs a maximum of 300 rubles (about four US dollars) and can be washed up to 25 times.

According to NTI, the protective effect against dangerous strains of various microorganisms, including Acinetobacter, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Enterococcus and Klebsiella, has already been demonstrated
