President Maduro Calls on Venezuelans to Continue Voting in the Afternoon

From 6:00 am, citizens massively went to the polls to exercise their right to vote amid high temperatures.

During a television program broadcast after noon on Sunday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro called on Venezuelans to continue going to the polls to ensure a future of peace for their country.

“The afternoon of July 28 has arrived. A blessed and beautiful day. The day has been very good, and I want to thank everyone who went out to vote, especially the elderly,” he said.

“I also thank the team fighting for the sovereignty of peace for their excellent performance. Let’s keep working so that the voting day continues to be good and beautiful,” Maduro added.

Earlier, from 6:00 am, thousands of citizens massively went to the polls to exercise their right to vote amid the high temperatures recorded in this South American country.

“We are going to consolidate the victory of peace… We are going to finish the day as we know how, strengthening the independence of the nation,” the Bolivarian leader emphasized, highlighting that Sunday afternoon opens the second phase of a strong popular mobilization.

“Forward, all Indigenous peoples’ movements of Venezuela!,” he said, highlighting the importance of political participation in a country where over 21 million people are eligible to go to the polls.

As president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Maduro also called on grassroots organizations to continue mobilizing towards the polls. “Let’s convince and motivate to triumph. Organize to vote and mobilize,” he said, referring to the Local Committees for Supply and Production (CLAP).
