President Díaz-Canel congratulates family doctors and nurses

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Wednesday congratulated members of the Family Doctor and Nurse Program, an initiative created 39 years ago by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro.

On Twitter, Díaz-Canel sent big hug “to family doctors and nurses who always have their family offices open to serve their neighbors”.

The Cuban leader considered this initiative as one of the most humane and decisive programs promoted by Fidel Castro.

With direct health care to families, nurses and General Practitioners (GPs) have been an essential factor for vaccination campaigns and promotion of proper health habits in communities.

This Program has allowed Cuba to reach high levels in practically all health indicators, rating it as one of the World´s highly medical developed nations, with medical breakthroughs recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international agencies.
