Cuba's leading industries open up to the circular economy

The Acinox Las Tunas Company is the third entity in the Cuban eastern province to join the circular economy, with the opening of a retail point of sale, where useful articles for the population are offered.

Metal structures for the construction of cubes, trusses and rings are among the plant's main products, as well as hinges of different dimensions for metal doors.

Acinox Las Tunas uses raw material from Antillana de Acero, which does not meet the requirements for fulfilling its state orders.

In 2022 was the first experience of this factory in the circular economy, when it was paralyzed for more than six months due to the energy contingency; with the use of the trimmings and the talent of its workers, more than 60 million pesos were earned in profits.

At that time, the provincial hospitals were benefited with the supply of cradles and serum carriers, Hydraulic Resources with the repair of engines in pumping stations, and the installation of fuel oil and diesel, in addition to the delivery of eight thousand fishing gear for the capture of lobster and shrimp.

The experience continued in 2023, when it contributed some 250 million pesos for services provided to various entities in the province and other territories.
