Posters, a collective exhibition dedicated to the Cuban Revolution

Camagüey, Cuba, Nov 17 (Prensa Latina) Carteles (posters), a traveling exhibition to pay tribute to the 95th birthday of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro (1926-2016), arrived at this city's Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets on Wednesday.

After being exhibited in Havana and Matanzas, it will be displayed at Galeria Amalia in this city, whose cultural life is hectic these days with events to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution next Jan. 1.

As of tomorrow, “the exhibition will be a milestone because we hope that our public, especially younger people, will learn about the development of posters in Cuba since 1959,” Beatriz Ochoa, expert in Development and Image at the subsidiary of the Fund in Camaguey, said.

Carteles is an invaluable visual testimony to know history, and some of its main protagonists are artists Eladio Rivadulla, Rafael Monrate, Pablo Labañino, Raul Martinez and Lesbia Vent Dumois.

The fifty artworks belong to the National Fine Arts Museum, the Jose Marti National Library and the collection of the winner of the 2019 National Graffic Design Prize, Pepe Menendez.

According to experts, the aesthetic-artistic range, the innovative nature that stamped a language of its own and the lack of commercial purpose, are guiding themes of the exhibition, whose curators have divided in three theme blocks: political, cultural and institucional.

The exhibition, that will be later taken to Holguin and Santiago de Cuba, proposes a tour of the historical evolution of a socialist project based on its roots to face the future.
