Havana, Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) The new normality in Cuba, to be implemented as of next Monday, poses the challenge of increasing citizen responsibility to allow living with Covid-19 for a long time.

Most of the country will see the beginning in October 12th of the new phase, which establishes the reactivation of services and activities at full capacity, under epidemiological surveillance protocols in the hands of each citizen.

This was reported on Thursday by the Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero during a television appearance.

The provinces of Sancti Spíritus and Ciego de Avila, in the center of the country, will remain in the autochthonous transmission phase, while Havana will advance to the third phase, with the almost total opening of services and productive activities, although international commercial flights will be limited for the time being.

During the new phase, which provides for the opening of borders in those territories where it applies, PCR tests will be carried out on all travelers arriving on the island, who will await the results in hotels or in their homes under sanitary surveillance.

It also includes the mandatory use of the mask in closed spaces and crowds, personal hygiene, physical distancing and disinfection of homes and workplaces.

The Cuban president specified that the strategy goes beyond closures and quarantines to establish a 'very practical group of operating procedures under the principle of rationality.'
