National Series of Boxing to hold nice combats

The 2022 National Series of Boxing will kick off this Friday and promising combats will be held, with the participation of Cuba’s main boxers representing their provinces or as reinforcements of those already qualified.

The Sports Palace Rafael Fortún, in the province of Camaguey, will showcase the best Cuban boxing talents up until next April 27^th.

It will be a very good opportunity for our best athletes to practice before their debut — as Cuba’s Tamers — on the professional circuit, the same they did in the now extinct World Boxing Series.

In the case of Camaguey Team, the Tamers captain, Julio Cesar La Cruz will lead the team. However, Dainier Peró will not fight this time, as he was discharged from the national pre-team. Nonetheless, they are the favorite to win.

Guantanamo Team, without Erislandi Savón, with some health issues, will be another strong team.

Pinar del Río, La Habana, Cienfuegos, and Holguín are also lined up for the tournament. According to sources, Matanzas’ Andy Cruz will reinforce La Habana’s boxing team, while Mayabeque’s Osvel Caballero, will represent Pinar del Río.

Fans are looking forward to the likely combat between stars Andy Cruz and Lázaro Álvarez as the latter will compete this time in the 63 kg.

According to the tournament rules, no boxer can fight in a division different to what they fought in the preliminary round. Hence, El Principe cannot fight in the light weight.

I said it is likely because every technical staff chooses its representatives for each fight program, and perhaps one of them would think it twice to make them fight with the subsequent weariness that goes with it. And better to secure the other victories…

Pinar del Rio’s Roniel Iglesias and Guantanamo’s Jorge Moiran will certainly be another interesting fight in the 69 kg division, where Camaguey Damian Lescay is also competing, or La Cruz versus promising Havana’s boxer Jorge Luis Felimón in 91 kg. Another notable combat will be starred by Cienfuegos’ Erislan Romero and Camaguey’s Damian Arce, in the 52 kg.

As predicted, there will be several interesting combats. But this is only the trailer, a real show will be showcased in all divisions.
