Modern ferry to contribute with the transportation of people between Batabano and Isle of Youth

Cuba acquired a modern ferry for the transportation of cargo and passengers in the sea-lane Gerona-Batabano-Gerona.

The ship ISLA DE LA JUVENTUD is being listed at CDC shipyard, belonging to MITRANS.

Works are expected to continue for weeks.

After the boat preparation stage, the ferry will be moved to its home port in the City of Nueva Gerona.

Up until 430 passengers will be benefitted, doubling the number of passengers in current catamarans.

The Cuban state decided to spend millions to purchase the ship.   

The ferry will be operated by VIAMAR, entity belonging to Prácticos de Cuba.
