Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero participated virtually this Friday in the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, held in the city of Cholpón Atá, Kyrgyzstan.
"We reaffirm Cuba's willingness to continue strengthening relations with the Eurasian Economic Union, as a benchmark for cooperation," he stated on the social network X.
During his speech, he reiterated the island's willingness to establish itself as a Logistics Hub for the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), echoing the initiative of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel at the recent Supreme Council meeting held in Minsk, Belarus.
According to reports on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, joint cooperation was encouraged to promote the development of Cuba's industrial capacity through the processing, production, and subsequent distribution of value-added products using raw materials from the EAEU countries. To this end, the Fourth Eurasian Economic Forum agreed to create a Bilateral Committee on Logistics between the Cuban Chamber of Commerce and the Business Council of the Union.
This is the fifteenth session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in which Cuba participates after receiving Observer State status from the integration mechanism on December 11, 2020.
