Idalis Ortiz stands out among the four Cuban judokas to step on tatamis today in the third and last day of the Grand Slam in Budapest, Hungary, at the Laszlo Papp Arena with the presence of 406 athletes from 61 countries

 

Along with Ortiz, Olympic (1-2-1) and world (2-2-4) multi-medallist of more than 78 kilograms (kg), will be Iván Silva (90 kg), and Kaliema Antomarchi (78 kg) and Andy Granda (+100kg).

 

According to the International Federation website www.ijf.org, the supercomplete from Artemisa province will have her first rival in the Serbian Milica Zaic.

 

Also, Silva, Antomarchi and Granda will debut against the Bosnian Toni Miletic, the Chinese Zhenzhao Ma and the winner of the fight between the Uzbek Shokhruh Bakhtiyorov and the North American Christian Konoval, respectively.

 

So far, Cuba accumulates a bronze medal and two fifth places, with in Maylín del Toro (63 kg), Magdiel Estrada (73 kg) and Arnaes Odelín (57 kg), in that order.

 

The other Cuban who competes in the tournament is the young Danny Porte (60 kg), who lost in his debut.

 

After two days, Cuba (0-0-1) appears in position 14th in the medal table led by Japan (5-0-0), followed by Azerbaijan (1-1-1), Brazil (1-1-0) , Belgium (1-0-0) and Hungary (1-0-0), the five countries that accumulate at least one title.

So far, Silva is the best ranked by Cuba in the world list, in seventh place, followed by Ortiz (14), Granda (12), Antomarchi (25), Odelín (27), del Toro (32), Estrada (40) and Porte (69).

 

This year they also plan to compete in the Croatian Grand Prix, from July 15-17, and in the World Cup in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from October 6-13.
