Italy is currently enjoying the performances of Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, a rumba group that occupies an important place in Cuba's musical history, present today in this country as part of a tour of Europe.

Rafael Navarro, the group’s vocalist, told Prensa Latina he was thrilled by the warm welcome from the public who came to the performances on 30 March in the city of Vicenza, in the northern Italian region of Veneto, and last Sunday in the Roman coastal town of Torvajanica.

During the performance held on the evening of 31 March at the Centro Playa del Mar in this capital, attended by representatives of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Italy, the ambassador of Cuba, Mirta Granda, presented the musical group with an award in recognition of its more than 70 years of worthily representing the culture of her country.

This new tour of the rumba group is the first of such magnitude to be carried out in European nations for the last 10 years, and on this occasion included performances in the Spanish cities of Madrid and Torrevieja, on 27 and 28 March, respectively, as well as those already mentioned in the Italian cities of Vicenza and Rome.

On the 4th of April, they will be in the Swiss city of Zurich and will return to Italy on the 5th of this month to perform in the city of Milan, from where they will go to the German city of Münster and will finish the tour in Montreuil, France.
