China and Cuba Strengthen Cultural Cooperation

Before representatives from 140 countries, Alonso shared the Caribbean nation's experiences in cultural development.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the official reaffirmed the democratization of access to culture as a cornerstone of the Revolution's cultural policy.

"The Dialogue of Civilizations is linked to the expansion of culture, the defense of cultural values, and the recognition of diversity in the face of exclusion. Cuba advocates for a culture of dialogue, inclusion, and equality, standing against discrimination, xenophobia, and the resurgence of fascism," he emphasized.

During a meeting with Sun Yeli, China's Minister of Culture and Tourism, the two officials pledged to further strengthen exchanges between the two nations, with a focus on the cultural industries sector.

"We will soon renew the cultural cooperation agreement to intensify cultural exchanges across all forms of expression," Alonso stated.

At the Cuba-China Poetry Gathering, held at the Caribbean island's diplomatic mission in Beijing, Alonso recited his own poems and presented the "For National Culture" award to Professor Zhao Zhenjiang, a pioneer in translating Latin American literature into Mandarin.

The minister highlighted progress in translating works by José Martí, Nicolás Guillén, and Roberto Fernández Retamar into Chinese, as well as the publication of Chinese poetry anthologies in Cuba.

"We must further promote contemporary Chinese art in Cuba," he asserted.

The official praised China's commitment to sharing Cuban culture, concluding, "A promising era lies ahead for cultural relations between our two countries."
