International Weightlifting Federation interim president visits Cuba

Havana, Mar 13 (Prensa Latina) The interim president of the International Weightlifting Federation, Michael Irani, from the United Kingdom, is starting a working visit to Cuba, where he arrived on Saturday night.

The information was confirmed on the digital magazine Jit, which noted that Irani will honor with his presence the Manuel Suarez in Memoriam International Weightlifting Tournament, which will begin on March 15 at the Cerro Pelado High Performance Athlete Training School in Havana.

Irani will meet with top sports authorities such as Cuban Sports Institute (INDER) President Osvaldo Vento, and his counterpart from the Cuban Olympic Committee, Roberto Leon Richards.

The distinguished visitor was welcomed at the Jose Marti International Airport on Saturday by INDER Vice President Ariel Sainz and Cuban Weightlifting Federation President Jorge Luis Barcelan.

Irani’s agenda includes visits to the Antidoping Laboratory in Havana and the Fidel Castro Ruz Center. He will leave next Sunday.
