Industriales and Granma undefeated in the Elite League of Cuban Baseball

Industriales de La Habana and Alazanes de Granma maintained their undefeated records today by repeating their victories on the opening day of the third edition of the Elite League of Cuban Baseball.

Both teams secured at least a tie in the first four-game first leg and took an early lead in the standings of an event that consists of 40 games in its regular schedule to define the four semifinalists.

As visitors at the Estadio Capitán San Luis, the capital city team hit 17 hits to take the victory, with a five-run eighth inning that tipped the scales of the game.

Andrys Pérez and Dayron Miranda faded the ball over the outfield to lead the winners' attack.

Right-hander Pavel Hernández walked a seven-inning route where he allowed only two runs, one of them a home run by Jorge Rojas, to score his first win.

The loss went to Yunieski García, who allowed five runs, one due to a fielding error, in the same number of innings worked.

The Alazanes, entrenched in their grounds of the Mártires de Barbados, disposed of the Avispas de Santiago de Cuba, this time with an 8-7 slate.

Andy Luis Pérez won the game in relief, and Yanielquis Duardo earned the save, although he tolerated one run in two and a third innings.

Wilber Reyna suffered the setback after an opening five and a third inning in which he allowed seven runs, three of them foul.

Damián Moreno stood out for the winners with three singles, and Osvaldo Abreu (5-1) towed two to the plate.
