The 17th edition of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)'s Global Youth Summit (GYS-25) winds up in this capital on Thursday after several days of debate on the empowerment of the new generations in digital environments.

Under the auspices of the ITU and coordinated by Cuba’s Informatics and Communication Ministry (MINCOM), the event aimed at harnessing the potential of young minds in the digital transformation of societies, economies, and environments.

With the slogan “Amplifying Youth Voices in Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) for a Connected Future,” the Summit served as a platform for a open and inclusive dialogues and experience exchanges to promote the use of these technologies for the good of humanity and the development of our peoples.

The face-to-face event welcomed ITU members, Generation Connect Youth Envoys (GCYE), and invited youth from the United Nations and other related organizations.

During the first day, youth exchanged their roles as change agents for green digital transformation and climate action, as well as the transformative technology of artificial intelligence (AI) for connectivity.

During three days, the delegates addressed issues such as cybersecurity, the digitalization of societies and economies, and the increasing exposure to cyberattacks and threats.

ITU brings together 194 national governments and more than 1,000 companies and organizations to advance global connectivity.
