EDITORIAL: They Planted the Fake News… so what?
especiales
It is not enough for them that the pain of the 46 lives lost at Saratoga Hotel accident is still raw. Terrorists do not respect mourning or pain.
Because that’s what they’re, terrorists, who intend to sow terror in this Cuban people, who continue to resist without giving in despite the very rough situation that both the pandemic and the criminal and intensified blockade of the US government have imposed on us.
For this reason, because nothing stops them in their deluded dream to annihilate the work forged by Cubans over so many years of effort, on Sunday night a call from outside the country reported a bomb threat at Havana’s Tulipán Hotel, in Nuevo Vedado neighborhood.
The whole protocol for these cases was immediately activated. The 222 clients who were in the facility were placed in safe custody -219 of them nationals, including Industriales and Granma teams staying there- as well as the workers and managers who were in the hotel.
After all the explosive search actions were completed by the competent authorities, it was confirmed that there was no bomb.
Journalists from different outlets who immediately arrived at the place, quickly informed via social networks, step by step, of everything that was happening, and minutes after midnight the guests returned to their rooms.
It was fake news, another false news, one more that they tried to spread to destabilize Cubans.
Perhaps with the same self-confidence that Orlando Bosch and Freddy Lugo confessed to having planted a bomb –this one very real, on the Cubana de Aviación airliner that killed 73 people, among them the fencing team that was returning victorious from a championship in Venezuela–, who made the call congratulated themselves on having created chaos.
But, once again, they were left wanting. Cubans, trained for over 60 years in good and bad times, did not shake, convinced that attempts like these "do not frighten a brave people."
They planted the fake news, so what?: more training for us on this Island, more conviction of the vileness of those who hate us and how far they could go, and more discredit for our eternal heartless enemies.
