Quito, Jul 29 (Prensa Latina) Quito, capital of Ecuador, hosts an exhibition of Cuban cinema as of this Friday, in which moviegoers will bring closer to the social and historic issues of the Caribbean country for three consecutive days.

At least, four Cuban fiction films will be screened until Sunday, July 31, at the Cinemateca located at Casa de las Culturas, in downtown Quito.

The exhibition begins with the screening of the historic film “El Mayor” (The Major, 2019), which recreates the life of Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz, Major General of the Mambi army in Camagüey region, and his relationship with Amalia Simoni.

The cycle will continue on Saturday with films recognized in and outside Cuba, “La Bella del Alhambra” ((The Beauty of the Alhambra, 1989) and “Suite Habana” (Havana Suite, 2002).

The films “La muerte de un Burocrata” (Death of A Bureaucrat, 1966) and “Clandestinos” (Clandestines, 1987) are scheduled for Sunday, day in which the exhibition will conclude. The cultural event will conclude the program developed by the Cuban Embassy in Ecuador to commemorate the Day of National Rebelliousness, celebrated every July 26 in tribute to the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes garrisons in 1953, two actions that marked the final stage of the struggle for the definitive independence of Cuba.
