A donation for the victims of the devastating hurricane Ian in the western Cuban municipality of San Luis, Pinar del Rio, is ready for shipment from the southern Ho Chi Minh City.

The Thai Binh company, Cubans living in Ho Chi Minh City and members of the Cuban State Mission in Vietnam, contributed to the purchase of personal hygiene products, textiles and refrigeration equipments as was told to Prensa Latina by the consul general in that city, Ariadne Feo Labrada.

Hurricane Ian crossed Pinar del Río’s territory at the end of September with category three on the Saffir-Simpson scale (out of five) and caused considerable damage to electricity transmission networks, communications, housing, facilities and agriculture, in addition to two deaths.

In the case of the municipality of San Luis, one of the most affected by the weather phenomenon, more than 1,470 total landslides were recorded and nearly 8,000 houses were damaged, as well as heavy losses in the tobacco sector.
