Havana, Oct 20 (Prensa Latina) Cuba´s ¨Pcuvente¨ Pulmonary Emergency Ventilator, developed by the Neurosciences Center, was awarded at the 15th Health for All Trade Fair, which closes doors on Thursday in Havana.

This new innovation was previously awarded the National Prize for Technological Innovation, as it responds to the State’s strategy to achieve technological sovereignty.

The new device -known as Pcuvente- is primarily used for emergency mechanical ventilation in adult patients.

Its use has proven to be helpful for ICUs, recovery wards and during transfers in/out hospital. The Pcuvente will enable Cuba to have a greater response for patients in need of controlled or assisted ventilation.

It also alleviates the burden of having to use other similar equipment with higher performance required for intensive care in a less complex situation.
