Cuba´s cultural prominent figures defend new Family Code (+Photos)

Havana, Sep 21 (Prensa Latina) As sample of Cuban culture plurality, prominent figures on Wednesday championed freedoms and guarantees of the new Family Code, which will be submitted to popular referendum on coming September 25.
This new code takes into account all diversity of society, tres player Pancho Amat said.
Likewise, Amat -also 2010 National Music Award winner- underscored the value of the new code as a tool to support the most vulnerable and a letter of respect for differences, because ‘we all deserve the same respect and the same affection’.
Similarly, dancer and choreographer Rosario Cárdenas acknowledged the evolution of families in contemporary history, which proves the relevance of legislation that supports, understands and defends the full range of possibilities.
In this regard, the Proyecto Palomas Director Lizette Vila praised the value of the new Family Code that inspires ‘affection, freedom, dignity’, stimulates the feeling of humanity and endorses ‘a sense of life, a way of being for social family’.
The affirmative vote of Annie Garcés is also guaranteed, the singer and presenter expressed her full support to the Family Code, which reflects the stories of thousands of people, where love is worth more than stereotypes and pre-established norms.
Singer Christopher Simpson, on the other hand, highlighted the value of the right to vote as a sign of a plural society, such as the one proposed by the new code, where all kinds of people fit, where there is no room for discrimination and where love prevails.
According to the National Electoral Council, the popular referendum will be held on coming Sunday 25, for which polling stations will open from 07:00 to 18:00, local time.
