Cuban visual artists to attend Art Festival in Romania

Cuban painters Juan Leo Brower and Michel Mirabal Martinez are among the artists who will participate in the Contemporary Art Festival in Sibiu, Romania, from September 1 to 23, 2023.

The Brukenthal Gallery, which will exhibit the two artists’ pieces of art, which they donated, will display some 1,200 artworks from the 15th and 18th centuries, mainly from German, Spanish, Italian art and from the French and Flemish-Dutch schools.

A graduate from the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts, in Havana, Brower has a dozen personal exhibitions in Austria, Cuba, Spain and Romania, and has participated along with other creators in about thirty exhibitions.

Some of his work are being exhibited in collections in China, Spain, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan and Mexico.

Meanwhile, Mirabal, who was trained in design and drawing, has more than fifty personal exhibitions in Argentina, Canada, Cuba, People’s Republic of China, Dominican Republic, United States, Egypt, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Haiti, Italy, Jamaica, Morocco, Mexico, Panama and Portugal.

His creations decorate spaces in different institutions around the world, including the Rockefeller Museum, the Fine Arts Museum of Medellin, and Bogota in Colombia, as well as the Martin Luther King and Afro-American foundations in New York, and the collections of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Mohamed Ali, Danny Glover, Angela Mizzoni, Quincy Jones and Carlos Santana, among others.
