Havana, Sep 16 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Friday wished Mexico a happy national holiday to commemorate the 212th anniversary of its independence.

On Twitter, the Cuban leader president reaffirmed the excellent state of bilateral relations between both nations and also reiterated that “among all brothers that Our America gave us, Mexico is, for many reasons, one of Cuba´s most beloved”. “Long live Mexico!” he posted.

President Díaz-Canel also thanked Mexico for its solidarity and support “amid difficult and glorious hours”. “Thank you for the history, solidarity and courage,” he tweeted.

On the occasion of Mexico´s celebrations, a comprehensive activity program is being conducted in Cuba, including gigs, meetings and wreaths to Heroes José Martí, Miguel Hidalgo and José María Morelos, at the Central and Fraternidad Parks.

According to the President of the Cuban-Mexican Cultural Society Miguel Barnet, the Grito de Dolores, led by priest Miguel Hidalgo on September 16, 1810, was a far-reaching event that triggered the independence processes in Latin America.
