Cuban PM tours agricultural areas in Artemisa province

Havana, Jul 13 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero on Thursday toured separate agricultural areas in Güira de Melena municipality, in the western province of Artemisa.

Marrero informed on Twitter that such municipality is currently drawing up some strategies in order to guarantee local self-sufficiency and increase supply to tourism sector and other destinations.

He praised the planting of various crops including malanga (also known as yautía or cocoyam) and plantain FHIA-04, a variety resistant to climate change and with a high agricultural yield.

Marrero also noted the breeding of dark-coat pigs and the alliances with neighboring schools to link students with the productive base.
