Cuban pentathletes, both men and women, are training in France with a view to the Pan-American Games Santiago 2023, as a result of solidarity and cooperation, the Cuba Cooperation France Association (CubaCoop) noted on Monday.

The delegation has been training in the northern town of Noyon, in Oise department, this month, as part of an agreement between the Cuban National Institute of Sports, Physical Education, and Recreation (INDER) and local authorities, led by Mayor Sandrine Dauchelle.

In late July, INDER President Osvaldo Vento and Dauchelle promoted cooperation in the municipality of the Hauts-de-France region, particularly for the pentathletes, by virtue of a project launched by CubaCoop to support the preparation of Cuban athletes for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

CubaCoop Vice President Manuel Pascual thanked Noyon for its support, welcomed the visitors, and emphasized the Association’s commitment to accompanying Cuba in its socioeconomic development in the face of the challenges posed by the blockade imposed by the United States.

The delegation of Cuban pentathletes wants to be in good shape for the Pan-American Games, scheduled from October 20 to November 5 in Santiago de Chile, where they will compete for the Olympic tickets.
