Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez expressed gratitude on Saturday to Mexico for the humanitarian aid it has sent, and described the solidarity between the two peoples as unwavering.
In a message published on Twitter, Rodriguez welcomed the gesture by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador in the face of the aggressive policy of the United States against Cuba.
I thanked the Mexican Government and its president for the help to fight Covid-19 and alleviate the situation caused by the inhumane blockade. The solidarity between our peoples is unshakable, the diplomat tweeted.
On Friday, the Mexican Navy's ship Libertador Bal-02 arrived in the port of Havana with 612.5 tons of food, medicines and oxygen, at a time when Cuba is also facing a rise in Covid-19 contagions.
This is the first of three vessels announced by Mexico to support Cuba.
A plane from Mexico laden with other supplies will arrive in Havana on Saturday.
