Cuban foreign minister calls to increase commitment to ozone layer

Havana, Sep 16 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Wednesday called to reinforce the commitment and political will to meet the challenge of preserving the ozone layer.

On the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, Rodriguez noted on his Twitter account that 'it is essential for survival to eliminate the unsustainable patterns of production and consumption brought along by neoliberal capitalism.'

Under the slogan Ozone for Life, the world is commemorating the 35 years of the Vienna Convention, signed by 28 countries who decided to establish a mechanism of cooperation to take measures to preserve that zone of the stratosphere.

The international community has warned that humankind was creating a hole in that protective shield due to the gases used in aerosols and refrigeration equipment, with a negative consequence to human health and life on the planet.
