Mexico City, Aug 30 (Prensa Latina) The incorporation of Cuban medical specialists in Nayarit and Tlaxcala has contributed to fill up 100% the shortage of specialists in two Mexican states, a senior official said.

Zoé Robledo, director general of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), who is in charge of the professional renovation of the national system with the recruitment of specialists and the execution of multi-million dollar investments in the entire health network, informed this at President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s morning press conference.

The high-ranking official referred to the arrival of more Cuban doctors in Nayarit and Tlaxcala and also an improvement in the response of native specialists to the call to fill just over 10,000 vacancies throughout Mexico.

He considered it a great step forward that in these two states 100% coverage of specialties has already been achieved thanks to the hiring plans, since both are the model chosen to generalize the healthcare system throughout Mexico, modernize it and turn it into one of the best and most effective in the world.

He said that the 10 general hospitals in Nayarit and those in Tlaxcala are fully staffed, as are the dozens of centers and polyclinics which, in addition, have been provided with equipment and other resources necessary for their optimal operation
