Havana, March 4 (RHC)-- Promoting more exports, generating productive linkages among all economic players, and building communication channels for business people are challenges identified by the Cuban Chamber of Commerce.

In exclusive statements to Prensa Latina, Antonio Carricarte, president of that institution, assured that the General Assembly of Associates held at the Havana Convention Center served to set the challenges for the year ahead.

He also referred to Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (MSMEs) as new associates of the Chamber. “Their interventions showed that they demand the services of our institution to link up with the state sector.”

In this sense, he added, it is vital to align the dynamics of the large state-owned companies and their legislations with those of this new economy sector so that their efforts are also articulated in terms of the country’s goals.

Carricarte also commented that these concerns prompt the Chamber to become a channel of promotion, solution, or transmission of opinions to decision-makers to contribute to the economic framework to remove obstacles.

In general, the debate exceeded our expectations and “showed that the little we have done opens doors for the much that remains to be done,” he said.

In 2021, the Cuban Chamber developed 92 business forums and virtual work meetings, signed 12 collaboration agreements, and established 30 action plans by nations, emphasizing health services, biopharmaceutical industry, agri-food sector, renewable energies, culture, and e-commerce.
