Venezuela Condemns Political and Judicial Coup Against Cristina Fernández

Venezuela has strongly denounced what it calls a political and judicial coup against former Argentine President Cristina Fernández, who it claims is the victim of brutal persecution driven by a judiciary subservient to the authoritarian agenda of Javier Milei.
In an official statement, Venezuela’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the ruling as “illegitimate and illegal,” asserting that it seeks to forcibly disqualify a leader who represents the political and emotional heart of millions and is the “historic leader of Peronism, the opposition, and the Argentine people.”
“This is not about justice—it is about eliminating political opposition through colonialist methods, imposing by force an economic and social model designed to subjugate Argentina to international financial capital,” the statement read.
The communiqué recalled that in the past, “a despicable dictatorship” disappeared more than 30,000 Argentine citizens in violation of their human rights. It emphasized that today, “the same forces as before—with different faces but the same class hatred—seek to politically erase a democratic Argentine leader, whose only ‘crime’ was governing in favor of the majority and resisting the surrender of her country.”
Drawing a parallel to Nelson Mandela, Venezuela expressed confidence that Fernández would resist this attack with dignity, overcome the persecution reminiscent of the dictatorships that plagued the region in the 1970s and 1980s, and emerge stronger on her path to resurgence and victory.
The Bolivarian government asserted that this is “not an isolated incident” but part of a broader geopolitical coup against Latin America.
“We saw it in the crude electoral fraud in Ecuador and the seizure of power by criminal gangs; in the violence unleashed against President Gustavo Petro in Colombia; and now in the judicial assault on the Argentine people,” the statement declared.
It condemned what it called “the same script, the same strategy: to reconquer and recolonize the continent, annihilating all popular and sovereign projects.”
Venezuela called on the peoples, governments, and movements of Latin America to recognize and confront this offensive for what it is: “a comprehensive war against the dignity and self-determination of the region.”
The statement expressed confidence that the Argentine people, with their memory and courage, would sooner rather than later defeat fascism, just as they did with past dictatorships.
“Cristina will return stronger than ever. With Perón, Evita, and Néstor, the Argentine people will triumph!” it concluded.
