Washington, Oct 4 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban band Cimafunk has been the only one of its kind invited to the concerts for the 15th anniversary of NPR Music, an initiative of National Public Radio (NPR) in the United States.
On his digital platforms, the author of iconic songs such as “Me voy pa mi casa,” shared the poster of the event in which he will take the stage with the US bands Corey Henry, Amber Mark, Hurray for the Riff Raff, and Leikeli47.
“Super happy to share with you that I will be playing at NPR Music’s 15th-anniversary celebration,” the Cuban musician, who is currently promoting his album “El Alimento” on a tour of several US states, confirmed.
In 2020, Cimafunk performed at NPR’s Tiny Desk, which organizes small-format events to showcase new artists from the continent.
In 2019, he ranked the song “El Potaje” in the list of the 25 best songs of the year, according to the prestigious radio station.
Held at Washington’s historic 9:30 Club, the musical contest called NPR Presents will feature special surprise guests and DJ sessions on November 28 and 29 in both in-person and virtual formats.
According to organizers, in order to celebrate the 15 years of NPR Music, they called up longtime favorite artists to the latest artists we’ve fallen in love with across the soundscape.
