Cuba’s Union of Artists and Writers (UNEAC) and China’s Federation of Literary and Arts Circles (CFLAC) signed a cooperation accord on Wednesday in Havana to boost bilateral cultural relations.

The signing ceremony, held at the UNEAC seat in this city capital, was attended by Dong Yaopeng, who heads the Chinese delegation to Cuba. Dong stressed the coincidences of China and Cuba as two socialist nations and significant models of culture in their respective regions.

He also underscored the importance to keep up and further develop ways towards the integration of Chinese and Cuban writers and artists, PL news agency reported.

The head of the CFLAC International Cooperation Department Liu Yanming invited Cuba to the upcoming International Folk Culture Festival in China, considered a major event in the Asian country, which promotes the exchange among all artists of the world through music and dance.

UNEAC president Marta Bonet appreciated the invitation on behalf of Cuban writers and artists and said that the Cuban and the Chinese organizations share many common interests as representatives of the artistic sector.
