The ashes of Havana historian, Eusebio Leal, will be exhibited in the Hall of the Lost Steps of the Capitol for the people of Cuba to pay tribute to him, it was reported in the local press.

According to Granma newspaper, this Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. local time, Cubans will be able to pay tribute to him 'as just recognition of his imperishable work.'
Leal, considered by official sources as the architect of the patrimonial rescue of the capital, died on July 31, but his funeral honors were not held at that time due to Covid-19.

The newspaper adds that on Friday there will be an official farewell, with the presence of leaders of the Communist Party of Cuba, the State and the Government, representatives of mass organizations, members of the Historian's Office, other personalities and friends.

In addition, that same day in a family ceremony his remains will be buried in the Convent of San Francisco de Asís in Old Havana (historic center).

It was precisely the Capitol of Cuba one of the works of restoration and monumental conservation -recognized by UNESCO- promoted by Leal in recent years.

Doctor in Historical Sciences and Master in Archaeological Sciences, the historian always upheld the political will of the island's leaders and the collaboration of numerous workers in the completion of a work.

After his death, rulers, academics, historians, artists, intellectuals, leaders of dissimilar guilds mourned the physical loss of he who was awarded honors in various nations.
