Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez today thanked the pronouncements at the Third South Summit in recognition of his leadership, efforts and work at the head of the G77+China in 2023.

In his profile on social network X, he reaffirmed Cuba’s permanent commitment to the interests of the countries of the South.

The day before, the forum concluded in Uganda where key issues such as the genocide against the Palestinian people, the right to development, and the Millennium Development Goals until 2030 were discussed.

Cuba was represented at the meeting by Vice President Salvador Valdés, who maintained frequent contacts with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, to whom he handed over the pro tempore presidency of the G77 and China. Cuba proposed at the gathering, the demand of an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and expeditious access to humanitarian assistance, as well as the convening of an international peace conference under the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to stop the Israeli aggression against Palestine.

It also urged support for the full and immediate membership of Palestine as a member state of the UN, and the dispatch of a mission to determine the humanitarian situation in Gaza by the UNGA.
