The increase of new cases of Covid-19 in Cuba with a source of infection abroad keeps authorities and experts alert today, who insist on family discipline as indispensable to stop the expansion.

With 1,350 active cases, the Caribbean country presented the most complicated epidemiological scenario since the beginning of the pandemic in the national territory nine months ago.

The most recent report from the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reported 167 positive samples at Saturday's close, bringing the country's total to 11,205 cases since March.

Of the total number of confirmed cases, 70 were contacts of positive cases, 89 with a source of infection abroad, and eight without specifying the origin.

In this scenario, authorities are improving control and are announcing new provisions for international travelers.

Among these, the Ministry of Public Health recently announced the requirement, as of January 10, of a negative PCR test for travelers, carried out by a certified laboratory in the country of origin.

According to the indication disclosed by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs official site, this test must be carried out within 72 hours before the arrival to the island.
