Cuba reaffirmed its commitment to the altruistic work of its medical brigades in many countries, while praising the value of solidarity facing the US blockade.
In a meeting held at the Cuban Embassy in Spain, the Minister of Public Health, José Angel Portal, and the president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando González, talked extensively with representatives of Spanish solidarity groups. Portal highlighted the Cuban health professionals collaboration to save lives, during 65 years, in complex situations and remote places with a helpful and enduring spirit highly valued in many countries.
He recalled that, over the years, Cuba offered medical cooperation with more than 600,000 health professionals who have provided services in 165 countries, facing dangerous diseases as Ebola, Covid-19 itself, or in places hit by earthquakes, hurricanes or plagues.
Shortly before, the head of State, who arrived in Madrid in transit after participating in the World Health Organization (WHO) Assembly in Geneva, held a dialogue with Cuban doctors living in Spain, who had spent part of their careers on the Caribbean island.
