Cuba to participate in women's Centrobasket event in El Salvador

Havana, Mar 9 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban team will participate in the Women's Centrobasket Championships, to take place in El Salvador from March 24 to 28.

According to the event's website, the Cuban quintet and its rivals from Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, the Virgin Islands and El Salvador will compete for four places in the 2021 Cup.

The Cuban team will debut against the Dominican Republic on March 24 at the Jose Adolfo Pineda Gymnasium in San Salvador.

Cuba will continue its program of matches on March 25 against the local team, then it will compete against Costa Rica the next day, will face the Virgin Islands on March 27, and will finish by playing against Puerto Rico.

The teams from Puerto Rico and Cuba have the best positions in the world ranking of the International Federation among the six competing Centrobasket teams, occupying the 23rd and 29th places, respectively.

The Dominican Republic is in 44th position in the ranking, the Virgin Islands is in the 49th, while El Salvador and Costa Rica are in 85th and 96th, respectively.
