The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, today considered 2024 a year of victory, of sovereignty and of peace, in a popular military-police fusion.

During the act of greeting of the Commander in Chief to the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) in the Bicentennial Plaza of Ayacucho, in Fuerte Tiuna, Caracas, the ruler highlighted the performance of that armed body in the defense of the nation.

“What a magnificent and imposing scenario to say that 2024 was a year of victory, of sovereignty, of peace, a year of the popular military-police fusion,” he stressed, and assured “what is coming is bigger and better.”

“2025 is ahead and what is coming is more homeland, more independence and more Revolution,” he reaffirmed.

Maduro said he had lived heroic years and “I can say as Commander in Chief of the FANB that I feel very proud of the role played by the military in the fierce defense of the right to have and build a homeland, and not fall into the clutches of imperialism and surnames,” he said.

The ruler called for the unity of the National Armed Forces with the people to make history.

Let us not expect anything, but from ourselves, let us invent a new time, we have doctrine, we have dreams, let us advance without ceasing in a harmonious manner building the future of our homeland, he said.

He also congratulated the uniformed men for their surveillance work during the Bolivarian Shield operation, which was deployed throughout this year and pointed out that Venezuela has “very perverse and evil enemies,” who not only come from the north, but from Trojan Horses.

He said that the latter, referring to the national extremist right, join in the intrigue, sowing hatred and fascist division, but persist in the threat, despite having been defeated in the last 25 years.

Maduro decorated the officers who participated in Operation Supreme Commander Hugo Chavez, activated for the recovery of the town of Cumanacoa, in the state of Sucre (north), which was affected in July by intense rainfall that caused deaths, disappearances and material damages.

The head of state was accompanied at the ceremony by the first combatant and deputy to the National Assembly Cilia Flores, the Minister for Defense General in Chief Vladimir Padrino and the president of the National Electoral Council, Elvis Amoroso.

Also participating were the head of Interior Relations, Justice and Peace Diosdado Cabello, among other civil and military authorities.
