Families affected by natural disasters in Guantánamo will be provided with housing

Eighteen families will be provided with housing in the municipality of Imías, in Guantánamo, through the construction of the initial batch of residences for those affected by hurricane Oscar.

The airport terminal, planned as a development zone, will be the foundation for the new community.

Yoenis Rodríguez Planche, head of the base business unit, and Manuel Tames, director of the Provincial Construction Company, have stated that the project will include 11 homes of a combined design (half-timber, half block), which are currently more than 90% complete. The floors, painting, and electrical work are already in progress.

According to the local newspaper Venceremos, the construction of 24 houses has already begun, while the remaining 30 will be finished next year.

The Provincial Defense Council prioritized the delivery of the buildings, which had suffered complete collapse. The affected individuals were temporarily relocated. (Source: Granma)
