Cuba defeated Guatemala in Pan American Softball preliminary

Cuba defeated Guatemala (3-0) today in the preliminary round of the Men's Pan American Softball XI, held in the Argentine city of Paraná.

The largest island of the Antilles achieved victory in its first confrontation as part of the official calendar of the event and the “oufielder” Reinaldo Lamothe drove in two runs and the third was the “infielder” César Bouza.

The island team will have to face Venezuela tomorrow, the Dominican Republic on Tuesday and Mexico on Wednesday.

The tournament takes place at the Nafaldo Cargnel Stadium and Paraná softball fields, and the top four finishers will advance to the World Cup to be held in Auckland, New Zealand, from November 26 to December 4 this year.

In addition, the championship will give tickets to five teams for the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile and the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, both scheduled for 2023.
