Cuba is competing in the 2024 International Wushu Championships that opened on Sunday, at which it is represented by Hiroshi Torres in the Tai Chi Chuan Fist and Tai Chi Chen Sword modalities.

Torres told Prensa Latina that the competition would allow him to gain new experiences to pass on to his students and be an opportunity to represent the Cuban Wushu School.

“Our school has a great international prestige thanks to the work of Master and President Roberto Vargas Lee, and also because the country has remained in the top positions in world competitions,” he added.

In his opinion, discipline and the spirit of self-confidence are the two values that should guide the actions of those who enter the world of sports.

According to Torres, setting new goals is also necessary to keep learning and to dream: “For example, I never expected to return to China, and I am here, ready to give everything to make Cuba proud.”

This is Torres’s second time in China. He competed in the 9th International Wushu Championships 17 years ago.
