Cuba thanked the Indian company Panacea Biotec for the donation of 125,000 doses of the Easyfive-TT pentavalent vaccine for the island’s child immunization program, a diplomatic source said today.

The Cuban ambassador to India, Alejandro Simancas, told Prensa Latina this Saturday that he visited the headquarters of that company in New Delhi, where he was received by its president Rajesh Jain and his management team, whom he thanked for the solidarity and humanitarian gesture on behalf of the Government and the Cuban people.

Simancas expressed that the donation from this company that manufactures vaccines and generic pharmaceutical products will contribute to continue the cycle of child vaccination provided for in the national immunization program, which Cuba carries out free of charge for all children.

The diplomat from the Caribbean country recalled the historical ties of friendship and collaboration between Cuba and India, which serve as an example of south-south cooperation.

Panacea Biotec and the Cuban biopharmaceutical industry maintain a mutually beneficial working relationship, which highlights the opportunities and potential that exist in this sector for bilateral cooperation, which goes beyond commercial interests and reaches human ties, as well as feelings of solidarity and friendship.

Dr. Rajesh Jain expressed that Panacea Biotec is confident of providing an opportunity for better health under the Indian values ​​of “Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam” (The world is one family).

Jain added that this donation is a small step in the ongoing effort of Indian science and capabilities for the benefit of all.

He highlighted that Panacea Biotec has had the privilege of partnering with the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of Cuba for more than 20 years and they are happy to support their friends in their time of need and continue fighting to minimize the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. 19.

Easyfive-TT is a pentavalent vaccine that protects children against five fatal diseases including diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, and invasive infections caused by Haemophilus Influenza type b.
